A weekend house in the Cattaraugus Mountains of New York, situated on a heavily wooded site with mature trees, and a seasonal creek. The necessity for a septic system, and the slope of the site away from the septic, in addition to budget constraints and the desire to locate the house near the creek and not cut any trees have conjured the invention of a new method of constructing the foundation and the main slab: rock-up. It is a combination of tilt-up and lift-slab construction methods.
