A Proposal for the Flemington Jewish Community Center.  In the narrative of “Genesis”, the earth was prepared for its soon-to-be inhabitants through a process of seven separations.  Our proposal, in turn, prepares the site through multiple separations of earth that leave behind a clearing; excavated and bermed earth is retained by seven walls that provide an arena for both the spiritual and the secular life of the community.  The spiritual program, set within the gardens, is sited in that clearing.  The other programmatic elements are sheltered within the earthworks.  Linking the two, is the library which in form and content provides the transition
