With Jose Chang

A permanent library installation to house over 9000 books on the topic of Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology.  The challenge of the research library installation was to invent a system that allows both focused research in certain geographic areas as well as thematic browsing across the entire collection.  The budget constraints introduced new opportunities in mass-produced custom-designed shelving systems.  The design of the library uses both the organization and the systematicity of a ziggurat to address the research constraints as well as the construction.
Scope:  Design and Construction Documents complete. Not built.
Site:  1000 SF interior space in an academic building.
